Wheat Beers
(top fermented)
Wheat beers (weizens) are more and more popular every year,
especially as a refreshing summer drink.
Weizen, weizenbier, weisse -
top fermented German wheat beer (min. half of the malt is wheat),
very foamy, phenols. "Kristall/Hefefrei" is filtered and "Hefe" is
cloudy and yeasty, unfiltered. Witbier - Belgian version of wheat
beer (unmalted wheat), typically seasoned with curacao peel and
coriander, a bit sour, refreshing beer.

Blond Lagers
(bottom fermented)
The most common type of beer in the world. Term "Lager" includes all
bottom fermented beers (blond/dark). The original blond lager is
pilsner and was for the first time introduced in 1842 (Pilsner
Urquell).
Blond lagers vary in colour from almost water-like to golden, the
taste from bitter to lightly aromatic, even sweet.

Dark Lagers
(bottom fermented)
As the storing techniques (lagerung) and bottom fermenting developed
in the Munich district in Bavaria all the beers were dark. It is
still common to call dark lagers as "Munich type/Bavarian type"
beers.

Lambics
Lambic is a spontaneously fermented wheat beer produced in the
valley of river Senne, near Brussels. Gueuze is a blend of young and
more than to years matured lambics. Gueuze is usually seasoned with
cherries (Kriek), candy sugar (Faro) or raspberries (Framboise).
